I am currently reading The Take since beginning April 2008. Bought the book in Sibu's Sanyang Plaza's book store at only RM2.00 during the last Miri competition tour stop over. I don't know why me & Nasir bought few same books... funny how we have to carry heavy stuff back to Kuching. But i guess we are not the sharing type so i rather buy my own book & he bought his... Ling Ham Hoe was like =.='''
Well, I am not a big fan of books but they kept my eyes shut. My progress is actually very very slow.. imagine finishing Harry potter book 1 - book 7 took me 3 years... Memalukannya.... actually, i can sleep by only reading 1 sentence. Not a big fan of Harry potter but I read it just because i watched the movie and wanted to find out how different it is from the book...
Usually prefer fiction from writer like Dean Koontz & John Grisham... as i read slowly, these two are the only writers that I read because my sister's friend gave her the books when i was in secondary school and only managed to finish it few years ago... hehehe... Suprisingly, i never buy any book more that RM20 besides Lilian Too's Feng Shui Book.. muehehehe. Besides we can download from internet these days too...
Anyway, The Take is not a bad book to read... just old..
.:The Take - Graham Hurley:.
DI Joe Faraday's Management Assistant, Vanessa Parry, is dead. Killed in a head-on car smash. Her funeral is a bitter end to another grim week in the front line of the ongoing war against Portsmouth's surging crimewave. And now the seemingly untouchable D/S Paul Winter: master of the scam, has been hurt in a way he could never have imagined. : his wife has cancer. It's inoperable and she has barely three months to live. But when life lays a finger on Paul Winter, he has only one instinct - lash out. And lash out hard. But there's precious little time for grief on a Portsmouth CID squad. A disgraced gynaecological surgeon is missing and his caseload of maimed women is a murder-suspect list from hell. While the serial Donald Duck flasher has just upped the ante by inflicting GBH on a woman walking her dog around Langstone Harbour. It all adds up to an impossible workload and that's without the suits and the politicians conspiring to make it even harder… THE TAKE is a taut crime thriller that binds personal and public tragedy. Just another week in the policing of one of the Uk's toughest cities.
