The first time I've seen an egret in the drain was about 10 years ago. That time, my family was staying in Jalan Stampin. I still remember being so fascinated to see it as it reminds me of my aunt, 'Ongako' whom's chinese name is related to the egret and I kept teasing her everytime I see egrets since.
The sad truth is that seeing egret in the drain or in the street is not a good sign. It shows that the bird that is suppose to live with the nature has now moved to the urban city and there must be reasons for it. I've been seeing plenty of egrets in the street these days on my way to work. Hopefully, their population is not going extinct.
